
Alexey Gubarev
Alexey Gubarev is a self-made entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist from Cyprus. He is co-founder of several successful tech projects, including the health and well-being tech company Palta and a leading hosting platform Servers.com, which was sold in 2023 to CloudOne Digital for an estimated $200 million.
One of Palta’s companies – the fertility tracking app Flo Health, raised $200 million in Series C funding from General Atlantic, bringing its valuation to over $1 billion in 2024. Another Palta app, Lensa, an AI-powered photo editing app, also gained global recognition. When Lensa launched the «magic avatars» feature at the end of 2022, the app reached the number one spot on the iOS App Store's «Photo & Video» charts, surpassing Instagram and YouTube.
While residing in Cyprus with his family for over two decades, Alexey has played a crucial role in advancing the island as a prominent technological hub. He always had a vision of Cyprus becoming a technological hub. He is a co-founding member of the non-profit organization TechIsland. Due to that, many foreign companies ended up on the island. Alexey is also investing in Cyprus’s infrastructure. One of the parks he has built, is a 5000-square-meter skate park in Limassol, opened in 2023. It is one of Europe's top 10 largest skateparks, designed to meet Olympic standards.
Anna and Alexey Gubarev created the eco-charity organization City Friends Club (CFC) with initial family capital in 2021. It focuses on daily street cleaning, monthly community cleanups and eco-education in Cyprus. Since 2021 CFC has collected over 267 000 kg of waste.
